After the badlands boondocking, we chose a modern KOA in Rapid City to take in some city sights before moving on to Custer. We chose the KOA because it had good reviews and was a reasonable price.
The campground was great, although the spots were a bit tight. They always are at private campgrounds, it seems. There was a playground for Corbin right across from our pull-through and an off leash dog run just a few feet further away. The Internet was very decent and they had a well heated pool and hot tub. Add all of this together with friendly staff and we had a wonderful stay.
Rapid City was a fun little city. We ate at the Firehouse Brewery, the first micro brewery in Rapid. They were having their city festival so we were also able to walk around and play in a bouncy house. Corbin and Camilo went to the Air Force museum while I worked, then we went to Bear Country. It was a very interesting wildlife park that you drive through with free roaming elk, wolves, bears, etc. after the drive is a little zoo with bear cubs and other local animals.
Today we packed up and went to wash the Badlands dust off the bus and now just let the jacks down in Custer State Park.
I love this adventure!
